My Oral Hygiene Routine
I researched that at night, while we are sleeping, bacteria multiply inside our mouths. So if we eat something in the morning, we swallow it. But the rest of the bacteria stay inside our mouths and cause cavities. That’s why, when I wake up, I first brush my teeth and then have my meal.
Generally, I eat twice a day. I never have lunch or a snack during the day. I brush my teeth after having a meal. First, I floss and then brush. While flossing, I try to be careful not to damage my gums or teeth.
Also, I try to gargle twice a day, as bacteria appear inside our mouths during the day. I gargle either with organic coconut oil or mouthwash. Also, whenever I drink liquids like tea, juice, etc., I rinse my mouth with water. Because the remains of the liquid may get stuck in my teeth and cause cavities.
I always have oral hygiene tools at home, but I carry mini toothpaste, a toothbrush, and floss in my bag with me. Because sometimes I have a meal in a restaurant, either with my friends or alone. On those days, I go to the WC, first floss, and then brush my teeth. So I never skip cleaning my teeth, no matter where I am.
If I have a toothache, I chew one bay leaf with my aching tooth, and the pain is gone. Of course, it is best to see a dentist after that, even if the toothache stops.
Sometimes, I have an ulcer inside my mouth. It takes a few days to heal, but I gargle with salt water to speed up the healing process. I add one teaspoon of salt to one cup of warm water and then mix it to gargle my mouth. I do this a few times until my ulcers are completely healed.
