My Favorite Places in South Korea
I have been to many tourist places in South Korea, but I am going to talk about three of them, which are my favorites. I want to start by talking about Jeonju Hanok Village.
I've always been fascinated with historical lifestyles. Now and then, I wish I could go back in time and see things as they were centuries ago. I would want to see how people lived, what they wore, what they ate, what they drank, their homes, their relationships with their families, how they spent their days, etc. When you go to Jeonju Hanok Village, you can travel back in time. It is so large and has a lot of things to see.
Houses in this village were built in an ancient style. The houses have rooms like study rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, etc., and when you watch the rooms, you can learn how people lived in the past. The kitchen is in the yard, and when you go to the kitchen, you can see the tools people used in the past for cooking. Most of the tools were made out of wood. You can even see some food mockups, like garlic, green and red peppers, and so on. The scent of burning wood, the cows, and the wheat straw all brought back memories of my grandmother's village home. In the evening, they performed a traditional show. The national performances and dances were fascinating.
As I looked at the hanok houses and their rooms and touched the things in the kitchen, I felt like I was living in that time. That’s why I love Jeonju Hanok Village more than other historical places.
There are a lot of historical palaces in Korea, and I have been to many of them. Deoksugung Palace, though, is my personal favorite. There are many things to see in this palace. The yard has mockups, green trees, flowers, and a lovely fountain.
I started my visit to Deoksugung Palace by visiting the exhibition area. There were dried flowers and plants there, along with antiques.
After looking around the exhibition area, I went to another location to watch a movie about that period. The movie was shown on a large screen, and we were all seated on the floor. Information about the history of that era was provided by the movie.
I then visited Seokjojeon, the first imperial palace designed in the Western style. The building is all white. To visit the palace, you need to register in advance. The tour guide provided in-depth details about the residences and the history of the palace. I was so surprised when I saw the inside of the palace, as it was so beautiful. The palace was designed by British designer Harding, and the interior consisted of the main hall, VIP waiting room, reception room, dining hall, empress and emperor’s bedroom, emperor’s study room, etc. I just got obsessed with its design. It is my all-time favorite palace because of this.
I love fairy-tale places, as they are so cute and lovely. I have been to some fairy-tale places in Korea, but my favorite one is Paju Provence Village.
It’s a French cultural village in Korea full of French-inspired shops,
restaurants, and cafes. When you walk in the village, you can come across
colorful fairy-tale houses. Their yards are decorated with green trees, small
lakes, flowers, and cute benches. You can also see beautiful fountains with
different designs. There are a lot of cute photo spots to take pictures in.
Almost everywhere is so picturesque. There are colorful paintings on the
storefronts where you can take pictures as well.
I always feel better when I watch things related to fairy tales because they are so beautiful and cute. It could be a picture, a souvenir, or anything else, but in this village, mockups, street art, and fairy-tale homes are all around. While watching those houses, walking through their cute yards, and sitting on the colorful benches, I felt myself inside a fairy tale. I felt like I was a part of some fairy tale. That’s why I loved Paju Provence Village the most.
