A Christmas Movie That Dares You to Think
Silent Night
is a 2021 comedy-horror movie featuring Lily-Rose Depp. It isn’t a very scary
movie, but it is definitely an interesting one to watch. The movie includes
plenty of funny moments, along with several sad and emotional scenes.
The story takes place in Britain, where a poisonous gas is
spreading and killing millions of people. As a result, the British government
provides suicide pills to the entire population, offering a quick and painless
death. A married couple, Nell and Simon, decide to host a Christmas dinner at
their farmhouse so they can spend one last evening with their friends and loved
ones before taking the pills.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite outfit, and
the children are even allowed to curse. No expense is spared—the dinner table
is beautifully set, creating a truly magnificent atmosphere. After all, this is
meant to be their last meal. All the guests arrive, and dinner begins.
Everything seems to be going perfectly, almost as if they aren’t facing death
at all.
As the evening goes on, the topic of the suicide pill
finally comes up. Most of the guests are determined to take it when the time
comes—except for Art. He believes the scientists may be wrong and that humanity
still has a chance to survive.
The ending of Silent Night is unexpected and thought-provoking. I won’t spoil it here—you’ll have to watch the movie to experience it yourself. If you’re looking for a movie that combines humor with emotional depth and raises serious questions about life, fear, and human choices, Silent Night is worth your time. You won’t regret watching it.
